From above: 13 × 13 squares
From above, the board is 13 columns by 13 rows. Columns are lettered A to M and rows numbered 1 to 13, so every square has a name: A1 is a corner, M13 the opposite corner, and G7, the centre, is the summit.
From the side: four floors
| Floor | Area seen from above | Squares |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | The two outer rows and columns | 88 |
| 2nd | Square C3–K11 without E5–I9 | 56 |
| 3rd | Square E5–I9 without the summit | 24 |
| 4th (summit) | G7 only | 1 |
Each floor is two block-heights above the previous one, so you always need a step to climb.
Rings, faces and corners
Every floor except the summit has an outer ring (its edge) and an inner ring (the row next to the floor above). Inner squares are where steps are built.
The pyramid has four faces: A1-M1-G7, M1-M13-G7, M13-A13-G7 and A13-A1-G7. The outer corners are A1, M1, M13 and A13; the inner corners are B2, L2, L12 and B12. The upper diagonals (A1-M13 and M1-A13) are the shortest route to the summit, and also the easiest to block.
